Hugger Ceiling Fan
The Modernistic Hugger Ceiling Fan
There you are, feeling warm and trying to relax. Somehow these two activities do not
seem to go together. Suppose you were to install a ceiling fan? If that is your thought, than answer these
questions before you run out to buy one. What is the height of the ceiling in the room the fan will be installed?
Are the rooms in your house able to conveniently accommodate a ceiling fan? Most ceiling fans do not fit in a room
with a low ceiling because of the lights that hang down low and the blades that also hang low. However there is one
ceiling fan that is made for just such a room and that is the hugger ceiling fan.
The hugger ceiling is designed to give you more space in that low ceiling room. The full size ceiling fan does
not give you enough head room or space in a low ceiling room because the blades and lights hang down too low. They
do not allow you to stand up or raise you arms comfortably. The hugger ceiling fan, on the other hand, is made to
give you more room because the blades are designed to fit closely to the ceiling thereby, “hugging’ the ceiling.
The only problem with the hugger ceiling fan, and it is only a minimal problem, is that the blades are short and
the fan hugs the ceiling so closely it does not leave room for proper air circulation. The hugger ceiling fan is
stylish and comes is designs to fit any household décor.
Installing the hugger ceiling fan is just a little different than the installation of a full size ceiling fan.
To begin your installation pull the wire from the fan box down and twist them slightly. There is a hole punched
through the mounting plate of the fan. Pull the wires through that mounting plate. The wires are in the fan rated
box. Attach the mounting plate to the fan rated box. Hang the motor assembly of the fan onto the hook on the
mounting plate. You will need to line up the hole of the mounting plate with the hole on the motor assembly.
A proper size wirenut should be used to attach the wires to the box. Donot use duct tape. If the wirenut you are
using does not fit get a proper size wirenut Apply a lock washer with mounting screws on each end of the
motor assembly. Now find the two threaded holes and the two slotted holes. Put two screws and washers into the two
slotted holes. This will line up the slotted holes with the assembly. Then use the two threaded screws to line up
the holes of the motor assembly flange letting the screws stand out a bit. Place the washer up to the head of the
screws and remove the assembly from the hanger. Brace the mounting plate by lining it up with the slotted
holes of the assembly with two screws that were previously installed in the mounting plate. Once you have lined it
up push it up and twist it to rest the flange on the screws. The other two screws and washers should be
inserted into the round holes of the assembly’s flange and through the mounting plate and tightened. Secure the
assembly cover to the motor and the fan blades to the brackets and each blade to the fan motor. On low speed turn
the fan on. If there are any vibrations or other sounds to high speed then you will have to made corrections
accordingly.
