Selecting a Rustic
Ceiling Fan
The rustic ceiling fan
has become one of the hottest trends in the ceiling fan
industry in recent years. They can add class and charm to any
ordinary room, making your plain-jane living room or den into a
room you love to be in.
One rustic ceiling fan aspires to the natural. Features may
include such options as backlit animal vignettes and twig
patterns in the fan blades. These can often be found in hunting
camps, lodges, and resorts, though, by no means are they
limited to such environments. Some people who come to
appreciate a rustic ceiling fan while on vacation bring their
sentimentality home with them and choose to purchase one.
Another rustic fan, rather than looking for inspiration in
nature, borrows directly from nature. A lot of these fans use
real woods for their blades, instead of injected-moleded
plastics or laminated plywoods. Some popular choices are
polished pine blades, walnut, or hickory. Some of the more
exotic fans use pieces of bamboo that are stitched or wrapped
in another natural fiber. Shades for the lights can be
constructed from plaited plants, such as vines or straw. They
create a nice ambiance as the light filters through the chinks
in the weave.
Other rustic fans even go so far as to incorporate larger
themes into them. For example, some fans are modeled on rustic
structures such as log cabins, ships, or lighthouses. Another
idea used by manufacturers is to incorporate sturdy animal
accessories into their fans, like using deer antlers as a
structure upon which a fan can be built.
Ceiling fans can be made to appear more like a rustic fan by
applying aging processes to them. Chemicals or expedited
weathering tarnish and, on some fans, rust their parts to a
small degree. Though these rustic fans appear older and aged,
they work just as well as a brand new, modernistic fan.
